For generations, summer camp has been a place where children discover new interests, build confidence, develop friendships, and create memories that last a lifetime. At the Down East Family YMCA, we believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the joy, adventure, and personal growth that camp provides—regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
This summer, the Down East Family YMCA is proud to offer three unique camp experiences serving families throughout Hancock County and beyond:
Blue Hill Y Camp
Held on the campus of George Stevens Academy, Blue Hill Y Camp offers children a safe and engaging summer experience filled with friendship, exploration, and opportunities to build confidence and independence.
Camp Discovery
Nestled in Eastbrook on the shores of Webb Pond, Camp Discovery offers a traditional outdoor camp experience with swimming, nature exploration, team-building activities, and unforgettable summer adventures. Convenient pick-up and drop-off is available in Ellsworth.
The Need Has Never Been Greater
Every year, YMCA camps provide life-changing experiences for hundreds of local children. This year, however, we are seeing more families than ever requesting financial assistance.
Many parents are facing rising costs for housing, food, childcare, and transportation. As a result, camp has become financially out of reach for some families who desperately want their children to participate.
No child should miss out on summer camp because of financial hardship.
That’s why the YMCA provides camp scholarships to families who need assistance. These scholarships ensure that children can experience a summer filled with friendship, learning, physical activity, and belonging.

$400 – Provides a full month of camp for a child
$1,000 – Helps multiple children access camp experiences throughout the summer
