After moving out of the Wiggins Center, the Moore Early Learning Center was our first established early learning center. It is located in the Moore Community Center, a partnership with the City of Ellsworth. The Center is share with Friends in Action, a nonprofit senior center.

The center was updated in 2013/2014 and includes 10 classrooms for infants aged six weeks through school age children, an indoor gross motor room, a cafeteria, and a shared gym and theater. The Moore center has three large turfed playgrounds as well as a natural classroom space for the children to learn through nature.

The Moore Early Learning Center is conveniently located near downtown Ellsworth, the Knowlton Park playground and the Ellsworth YMCA at the Wiggins Center providing the opportunity for children to become familiar with the community.

Beechland Center

The Beechland Road Early Learning Center is a partnership between Down East Family YMCA and The Jackson Laboratory.

This Beechland Center is located on the edge of town on the way to Mount Desert Island. It sits on 7 acres of wonderful Maine woods. The Center has 5 classrooms, a cafeteria and a large indoor gross motor room. We also have the first educational floor projector system to be installed in a childcare center in the state.

Outside, the center has a large fenced in turf playground, a field with our amazing pirate ship play structure, and an ever-expanding, child created outdoor classroom where education and nature meet to create a fascinating learning environment.

Island of Imagination

Island of Imagination is our most recent partnership with The Jackson Laboratory and is on their campus in Bar Harbor. The center is conveniently located for Jax employees and other members of the MDI community.

This center sits near the edge of Acadia National park with walking trails and picnic areas to explore nearby. There is a large turf playground behind the building offering amazing views of the mountains and trees.

Island of Imagination has 4 classrooms with large windows to the outdoors, a gross motor room, and a sensory/services room.
