Pool Facilities & Rules
Our pools are located at the Wiggins Center in Ellsworth and the Lawrence Center in Blue Hill.
Facilities & Equipment
- Both Pools are 6 lanes, 25 yards long and approximately 45 feet wide. 3 1/2’ deep in the shallow end and slopes down to 6’ deep at the Wiggins center and 9’ at the Lawrence center
- There are stairs and chair lifts in the shallow end of each pool and ladders in the deep end.
- Both pools are kept between 82—83 degrees.
- There are family changing rooms available at each location.
- We always have a lifeguard on duty.
- There are pace clocks on each end of the pool.
- We have kickboards, pull buoys, swim noodles, barbells & lifejackets for patron use.
- Both facilities are fully equipped for competitive swimming with starting blocks, lane lines and the Wiggins center even has automatic timing.
Pool Rules
- Safe Pools Have Rules
- Shower before entering the pool.
- Proper swim attire is required. No cut offs or t-shirts.
- Forward facing jumping and diving only. (No flips, twists, or going backward.)
- Diving is allowed from the deep end only.
- Walk. Don’t run.
- Keep your hands to yourself.
- Non-swimmers must be accompanied at all times by an adult who must stay within an arms reach.
- No food or glass is allowed on the pool deck.
- Children 10 and under must have an adult in the building.
- No inflatables are allowed in the pool, including arm bands and beach balls.
- Anyone entering the pool must be potty trained or wearing a swim diaper / rubber pants.
- Use of all equipment (kickboards, flippers, pull buoys and starting blocks) is based on activity and bather load. Please ask prior to use.
- Shoulder length hair or longer should be tied up or in a cap.
- The pool will close during thunderstorms.
- Masks and snorkels are to be used by an adult or under adult supervision only.
- Extended breath holding and hyperventilating are prohibited.
- The lifeguard on duty has the final word on safety.
