Over 130 runners & walkers participated in the 9th Annual Jerry Kaufman Memorial 5K on Saturday. Andrew Kephart, 31, of Ellsworth crossed the finish line first with a time of 17.37. Kephart was followed by 4 other runners who finished the 5K in under 20 minutes. Bob Ciano, 65, Victor Skorapa IV, 21, Andy Pereira, 47 and Evan Merchant, 14, finished with times of 18.45, 19.00, 19.14 and 19.36, respectively. Megan Haney, 38, of Mount Desert was the fist female to cross with a time of 23.01. She was followed closely by Veronica Wentworth, 26, with a time of 23.09.
The Kaufman Memorial 5K raises funds for y Hancock County Homecare & Hospice VNA Home Health Hospice, ALS Maine Collaborative & the YMCA Camp Scholarship Fund.
