Good afternoon my friends:
As you all may know, yesterday the State decided to delay the opening of fitness centers that was scheduled for June 1st. The YMCA was excited to welcome everyone back; however even though we are disappointed that are not able to open, we recognize the very difficult decision that Governor Mills had to make to ensure the safety of all. Here is what the YMCA’s game plan which is consistent with the State’s guidelines beginning June 1st:
- YMCA Child Care will re-open. Details will be available on defymca.org
- YMCA Camp Discovery and Bucksport YMCA Young Bucks summer camp will open on June 15th. See web site for details.
- The Y’s Pickleball courts will be open for use. Single matches only, no doubles.
- Thanks to our friends at Wallace Events & Perry’s Lobster Shack, a large tent will be set up in the pickleball courts at the Wiggins Center for outdoor classes (members have priority).
- 10 person limit for all classes
- Social distancing is required during all classes.
- A second tent will be placed closer to the building at the Wiggins Center for separation and additional classes (members have priority).
- 10 person limit for all classes
- Social distancing is required during all classes.
- A comprehensive fitness schedule will be posted soon.
- The YMCA’s online fitness classes will still continue to be offered to complement our outdoor programs.
- The Blue Hill YMCA will continue their daily comprehensive online classes until we are able to open.
- Finally, Perry Lobster Shack will be having a food truck at the Wiggins Center and will donate a portion of their proceeds to help the YMCA send kids to Camp.
So folks, let’s have some fun and gather responsibly and play out doors.
Thank you
Peter D. Farragher
