Meet Daniel: Lawrence Family Fitness Center – Blue Hill YMCA Front Desk
My name is Daniel, I am from Peru and I started working at the Front desk of the Blue Hill YMCA a year ago. Previously I worked as a Shore Excursions Manager on cruise ships for 14 years; I travelled around the world and visited 75 countries. In 2020 during Covid, the Cruise ship I was on got stuck in Hong Kong and we had to sail for 5 months on the high seas until we received authorization to dock and then I finally got repatriated back to Peru. Finding my partner Patrick in Peru changed my life. Patrick a retired diplomat settled in Blue Hill, Maine and that’s how I ended up here.
I love exercising, so the first thing I looked for when I moved here was the gym and luckily for me I found the amazing YMCA facility. After a while, I realized they were looking for a Front Desk Staff which was a perfect position for me.
Working at the YMCA, I get to interact with people of all ages. The variety of people I meet each day make Blue Hill such a special place to live.
I feel proud to be part of a great team that gives so much to the community.
