Greetings Friends and Neighbors:
On Monday June 15th the YMCA (Wiggins Center and Blue Hill) will once again be open for business! YEAH! We are excited to see all our friends, neighbors and members as we try to regain a level of normalcy in our community. That being said, the YMCA is committed to the safety of our members, staff and community and have instituted guidelines for reopening. These guidelines can be found on the Y’s web site on our Facility Safety Protocols page.
Also, during our hiatus we launched a new app that will help members re-enter the fitness world at the Down East Family YMCA. Search for Down East YMCA App on Apple and Google App stores. Our app allows you to interact with us with less physical contact. Members can register for classes and cancel their reservations, gain easy access to all of our contact information, leave us feedback, scan in and out of the Wiggins Center, and receive important announcements from The Down East Family YMCA. Stay tuned for more options as we roll out additional features. Learn more about the App and how to use it by visiting our website.
If you’d prefer to call in class requests, we can still do that too. As always your friendly front desk staff is here to help at 667-3086.
During our shutdown, we have enjoyed creating video workout and wellness content for our supporting communities, friends and neighbors to keep people active and engaged with wellness. As we enter the next phase of re-opening our Virtual Fitness Center programming will still be available to members through our website. We have curated and organized the video library on our website and hope our members continue to enjoy and use it. We are transitioning away from our YouTube Channel for Wellness and workout videos but will continue to use our YouTube channel for other Down East Family YMCA announcements and content. Check out our Virtual Fitness Center here.
June 15th also begins our summer camp program. Camp Discovery and Camp Young Bucks in Bucksport are ready for a fun filled summer. If you have not yet signed up, please do it today.
June 22nd, the Y’s sports program is beginning to re-engage and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
The YMCA Pickleball Courts are now ready for everyone to enjoy. Please enjoy the courts and remember your social distancing guidelines. Our friends at Perry’s lobster shack will also be in our lot for people to enjoy. Perry’s will be donating a portion of their sales to the Y’s camp scholarship program to help kids come to camp.
It has been an interesting time for all of us and as June 15th arrives it will be wonderful to see and welcome our community back. The entire YMCA is grateful to everyone who has supported us during this time and thank you for “Staying with Us.”
Until next Friday, thank you on behalf of the YMCA for doing your part by following the CDC guidelines to keep our community healthy and safe. We cannot let our guard down!
Thank you.
