Facility Safety Protocols

Pick-up and Drop-off

  • Moore Center: Parents can drop children off in the atrium. Families are not permitted to enter the childcare wings.
  • Beechland Center: Masked parents can drop children off outside the classroom door. Families are not permitted into the classrooms.

Face Coverings

  • Fully immunized or masked parents can enter the facility for child drop-off and pick-up.
  • Staff, adults and children age 5 and above must wear face coverings while indoors and while social distancing cannot be maintained.

Drop-off and pick-up will take place outside of the center building at the #1 and #2 doors.

  • Full screening of all children and staff each day for symptoms of COVID-19
  • Strict health policy for staff and children that will require absence or to be sent home if any of the listed symptoms are present.
  • Limited sharing of staff among the programs.
  • Limited combining of color groups.
  • Shared spaces will be used on a strict schedule to allow for detailed cleaning between uses.
  • Increased hand washing for all children and staff in addition to regular practices.
  • Staff and children are required to wear face coverings.
  • Additional cleaning practices will be put into place.
  • If a case of COVID-19 is confirmed in a classroom there will be a minimum of a 24-hour shut down of all contaminated areas for deep cleaning and sanitizing.
  • All CDC guidelines will be followed.
  • The current Executive Mandate in the State of Maine allows fully vaccinated people to not wear a face covering in both indoor and outdoor settings. 
  • With respect to our unvaccinated and not yet vaccine eligible members and guests, we have adjusted programing limits so that everyone will have at least 6 feet of space in both fitness and aquatic classes. 
  • Program entry (pool lap lanes and fitness classes) is pre-registration based and preference is given to pre-registered participants. To schedule pool time or reserve your space in fitness classes, use the links at the top of this page.
  • Entry for weight/cardio rooms is on a first come first serve basis.
  • There is hand sanitizer, antimicrobial wipes and paper towels and spray for personal and equipment use. Please continue to take care of yourself and our equipment. 

We have signage at the doors of our fitness centers explaining what COVID-19 is, the signs and symptoms to look for and asking entrants to self-screen and to stay home and get well if you are experiencing any of the signs and/or symptoms or aren’t feeling well.

Patrons

Signs and symptoms are posted on the door. Please be honest and respectful of your own and other’s health. 

All patrons are required to wear a mask at all times.

  • All patrons are required to wash their hands, at the sink inside fitness room prior to touching any gym equipment
  • If a patron is feeling ill or showing any symptoms we highly encourage them to stay home.
Staff
  • All staff must stay home if feeling sick or showing any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Staff are required to wear a mask when social distancing cannot be maintained and when they enter any part of the school.
Sanitation
  • Staff will spray and wipe down all equipment, entry door handles, locker room etc. prior to opening, by the hour and prior to ending their shift
  • Staff will initial and time stamp when sanitation is complete.
  • Sanitizer will be available throughout the fitness center.
Equipment
  • Equipment available for use will be a minimum of six feet from other available equipment.
  • Some equipment will be roped/taped off and will not be available for use.
Water Bottles
  • Staff and patrons may bring their own water bottle but cannot share with anyone else.
  • No food is allowed in the fitness center.
Entering the Building
  • Patrons will enter through the YMCA door located in front of the Jewett School.
  • Patrons must ring the doorbell when they arrive, a YMCA staff member will screen them and let them in.
