DEFY Leaders show their lumberjack skills for a cause

Brining home Second Place at the First Annual DownEast Lumberskills Competition to benefit NextStep Domestic Violence Project.

Timber Tina’s Great Maine Lumberjack Show was a lively place on Sunday, Oct. 8th as teams tested their lumberjack skills in honor of the thousands of domestic violence survivors NextStep has served over the years.

Timber Tina called two teams to the stage to compete in five events using
real lumberskills, including log tossing, speed with a cross-cut saw, axe throwing and more. Every 15 minutes a new set of teams competed while the crowd cheered from the bleacher with be music and food vendors.

We couldn’t be prouder of our DEFY team who walked away with second place!

Congratulations to Matt Montgomery(CEO),Zach Ames (Senior Programs Director – Youth Sports & Rec), Brian Townsend(Regional Aquatics Director) and his wife Meredith!
