Peter Farragher
CEO
Peter, a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a BS in Education, started his Y career in 1986 as Sr. Aquatic Director and Head Swim Coach for the Beverly Regional YMCA in Beverly Massachusetts. Peter spent 12 years at Beverly serving as the Sr. Aquatic Director, Associate Executive Director for Membership & Marketing and Branch Executive Director of the Sterling Center Branch of the Beverly YMCA, now known as the North Shore YMCA. Peter has been the CEO of the Down East Family YMCA since 1998 and lives in Lamoine with his wife Nancy.

Associate Executive
Jeannie was born and raised in Ellsworth. She had an early introduction to the Down East Family YMCA. Her mother, Maralyn “Pete” Turnbull, was one of the first volunteers for this Y. Jeannie began volunteering as a teenager and began employment in 1990. She has worked in almost every department at the Y.

Marketing/Swim Coach
Matt moved to Maine from the Virgin Islands with his wife, Jessica, in 1998. He started in the Aquatics Department as an Assistant Swim Coach and Instructor. After serving for several years as the Aquatic Director, Matt moved on to Membership and Marketing. He is in charge of helping spread the news of the Y to the community. He also coaches the DEFY Dolphins Swim Team and the Master’s Swim Program.

Bob Dyer
Maintenance
Bob came to the YMCA after many years in the restaurant business. Bob leads our maintenance department, including daytime and nighttime staff. Together they are in charge of maintaining the appearance and operation of all of our facilities and equipment.

Matt Montgomery
Marketing/Swim Coach

Jaime Frost
Aquatics
Jaime grew up in San Diego, California and learned to swim at the age of 3 yr. old in the YMCA’s Backyard Swim program. She developed her love for swimming while on a team, very similar to DEFYMCA’s. Throughout college Jaime guarded and taught aquatics at several pools in California and South Carolina, receiving her certification as a Water Safety Instructor through the American Red Cross.

Shane Lowell
Youth Sports
Shane grew up in Wyoming and moved to Maine when he was 21 and immediately started working at the Y. He has been an After School Counselor, Day Camp Counselor and the Assistant Youth Sports Director. Shane has been the Youth Sports Director for over 10 years with the exception of a two year vacation to warmer weather.

Fitness
I have worked for Y Fitness since 2005.In that time I have made great friends that are just like my family . I am a personal trainer and I love motivating people and helping them to reach their goals and get healthy . I also teach ACTIVE OLDER ADULT and CARDIAC REHAB,I love working with Seniors and I’m always inspired and encouraged by all they do . I have been teaching ZUMBA for 7 years now and Y members still get so much joy from this fun workout , there is nothing better that looking out into the gym and seeing all the smiles and sweat!
My downtime includes being a soccer mom to Colby and Javen , Enjoying my new hobby of Hiking and snowshoe running., and of course running road races . Look for me at the Boston Marathon 2015!!!!!I love to travel and this year I will be going to New Orleans and Puerto Rico. I recently became a certified running coach and am here to help you reach your running goals!

Jessica is a Midwest native who moved to Maine from the Virgin Islands with her husband, Matt, who is also a YMCA employee. Jessica has worked in Aquatics, Youth Sports and Active Older Adults. Most recently Jessica led our Preschool room for almost 6 years. Jessica helped oversee the transition from Child Care located at the Y to their new location at the Moore Community Center.

Blue Hill Fitness
As Joy reached middle age she found her passion with fitness. After a complete body and mind transformation, she quickly moved from the back of the fitness class to the front. She realized fitness changed her life and she was ready to share her passion and lifestyle changed with others.
Joy worked for The Down East Family YMCA in Ellsworth as a Personal Trainer and Group fitness Instructor for many years, but wanted to bring her fitness knowledge to her hometown of Blue Hill. Her background and training is a tremendous asset to The Blue Hill Peninsula.
When not at the fitness center Joy enjoys gardening and being outside.
Certifications Inlude: AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Cross Fit Level 1 & Cross Fit Kids, Licensed Zumba, TRX & G.E.A.R. Group Cycling Instructor.

Crystal Follette
Blue Hill Child Care
Crystal has been an employee of the Downeast Family YMCA for 10 years. She began her employment as an early preschool teacher and then moved through the ranks to her current position of Child Care Director at the facility in Blue Hill. She is currently enrolled in a certificate program in Early Childhood education and has her CDA.
When Crystal is not working, she enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
